HR Compliance Audit Geelong

June 18, 2016

At HR4Business our aim is ensure our clients comply with all relevant workplace legislative requirements which includes paying minimum pay rates set under any relevant Modern Award which may be applicable to their employees.  Recently the Fair Work Commission (FWC) announced an increase to the national minimum wage by 2.4% to $672.70 per week, with the minimum hourly rate rising to $17.70 per hour. National Minimum Wage applies to Award Free employees.

The announcement was made earlier this month as part of the FWC Annual Wage Review 2015/16. This increase is slightly below that of last year, which saw a minimum wage rise of 2.5%. The new weekly wage is $15.80 more than it currently stands at $656.90, while the new hourly rate marks an increase of 41c from $17.29. The National Minimum Wage applies to Award Free employees.

In addition, the 2.4% increase applies to the pay rates in all Modern Awards therefore employers must increase the pay rates all employees who are covered by a Modern Award and who are currently paid the minimum award rate. Where an employer pays above the Award rate the increase may be absorbed into any above award payment.

The new minimum wages will be implemented as of July 1.
